What TV could do for America

The portrayals of scientists and science on television is a disservice to the American people. Children receive the message that scientists are weird and dangerous. The skills of scientific skepticism are under emphasized. Recommendations are provided to help TV improve its portrayal of science.

Scientists representing many fields met in May 1992, in Washington, DC, with many of the leaders of the major religions to discuss methods for preserving the environment. The joint commitment of the two diverse groups is a welcome development.
