Article Abstract:
A majority of Americans are not getting enough calcium, which is essential to preventing osteoporosis. A typical diet has about 300 milligrams of calcium each day, but more than 1000 milligrams are recommended for most age groups. Dairy products and dark green vegetables are a good source of calcium. Vitamin D is also important for help in absorbing calcium into the body.
