WorldCom CEO's pay package tops $142M

Article Abstract:

MCI WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers receive a compensation package worth more than $142 million in 1999, according to the SEC filing of his pay in May 1, 2000. The pay package includes a $935,000 salary, $7.5 million bonus and $133.6 million worth of stock options. At the same day of the filing Ebber's pay, MCI shareholders approved the telecommunications firm's plan to buy long-distance telephone service provider Sprint Corp.

Stewing in a tough market

The beef industry, through the National Cattlemen's Beef Assn, is developing marketing programs and new products which are intended to reverse the declining consumption of beef in the US. The industry's objectives are to secure its market share by 2001 and develop innovative, consumer-friendly products. The industry must also change beef's image as an unhealthy and hard to prepare product.

E-Trade chief amasses options

Article Abstract:

E-Trade Group CEO Christos Cotsakos will receive a risk-free stock option grant of 2.5 million shares over the next two fiscal years valued at $75 million. Cotsakos, who was hired by Internet discount broker E-Trade in Mar 1996, already holds stocks and options valued at $100 million. Cotsakos has already received $1.7 million in salary and bonus and exercised stock options worth $7.9 million in FY1999.
