The expense ratio in mutual funds are rising high and the reasons are middlemen who are seeking ways to raise fees rather than lower them and fund companies that favor their own profits over those of fund holders. New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's mandated fee cuts may spur more firms to drop fees, which will provide investors with plenty of attractive low-cost options.
