A look at the best performing managed funds since Dec 1990 to the end of 1997 varies according to the criteria used to judge success. The top quantitive performance funds are examined, and selections based on asset and sub-asset focus and income funds with the best risk adjusted returns.

Article Abstract:

Investment professionals recall their response to the Oct 1987 share market crash. Wall Street was affected first and only hours later the Australian market fell. Some fundamentals, such as fear and greed, are the same in 1997 as they were in 1987. However, in 1997 interest rates are low, the economy is booming, there are few foreign trade problems and no threat of nuclear war.

Article Abstract:

Investment advisors recalling the 10th anniversary of the Wall Street crash of Oct. 1987 suggest if it happens again, investors should think about buying stock at bargain prices. If Wall Street falls the Australian market will also fall, but not to the same extent because it is not as overvalued as Wall Street.
