Lights, camera, captions: Coming soon: New movie technology for the hard of hearing
Article Abstract:
A wearable digital captioning device, called SightLine, is expected to enable the hearing-impaired to watch movies in movie halls without disturbance to other persons in the hall. SightLine uses mobile wireless technology to transmit movie captions to a small display attached to a headband, with optics technology making the text seem several feet away even though the headset's display is close to the viewers' eyes.
