Vouchers: walking on sacred ground
Article Abstract:
The Massachusetts Bay Colony established the public education system in 1647 requiring communities of 50 or more families to support an elementary school and 100 or more families must have a Latin grammar school. The public school system is still one of the best education systems in the world. The voucher system allows parents to use public-funded vouchers to pay their child's tuition at the public or private school of their choice. There is continuous debate about the use and merits of the voucher system.
