Institutions offering credit cards are continuing to target the low-cost alternatives, as the financial institutions believe that it would bail them out of the expensive reward programs. Consumers were never so serious about the level of credit card interest rates and fees earlier but after the Reserve bank introduced the reforms to the pricing structure of the credit card system, prices have gone up and the reward program benefits have come down.

Hot sector headed for the back burner

Listed Property trusts (LPT) sector, one of the best asset classes, was an outstanding performer over the past decade but the reports have argued that interest rate cycle is moving against them. They have become riskier due to higher levels of gearing, inclusion of more overseas assets and also the weight of money from superannuation funds that have pushed valuations too high.

Volatility knocks sector
