The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) plans to become more of a force at the local community level extending services through volunteers and offices including 21 state offices, and two in Washington, DC. Topics to be addressed include health care choices, and telemarketing scams.

Let's celebrate and maintain independence
Article Abstract:
A service of AARP is the Connection for Independent Living program which connects volunteers to community agencies that assist elders, especially those living alone. Many fail elderly can live alone because of this service. Daily contacts, rides, yard work, and other services are offered.

The American Assn of Retired Persons has a number of services available for people 50 years of age or older. The association has 4,000 chapters throughout the country, and some of the specific services are legal counseling, help for widowed persons, consumer affairs, and advocacy.
