A recent draft Australian Taxation Office ruling raises doubts relating to the taxation of returns from Listed Investment Companies, which give investors access to diversified share portfolios. The new ruling is likely to remove the concession of 50% capital gains discount that these companies were able to pass on to their investors. Consequently, these companies will almost be at par with other managed funds.
