Telstra: the right numbers?
Article Abstract:
Stock brokers and fund managers were asked to judge and predict the investment value of Telstra Corp. stock when it goes public in Nov. 1997. Approximately 1.5 million people are expected to invest when Australia's largest telecommunications entity enters into privitisation. Managers are optimistic about the stock and believe shareholder scrutinization will force Telstar to continue cost cutting methods and continue to improve productivity.

Small share investors are discovering they do not need full service brokers and are instead doing business with on-line and discount operators. Similarly, big firms are abandoning small shareholders in favor of giant investment institutions and shareholders. Many small shareholders contend that since their departure from big brokers, they have done better financially with much less hassle.
