The May 2003 federal budget saw the removal of some of the strategies popular before including certain estate planning measures, the generous treatment of excess reasonable benefit limits (RBL), and the ability to set up a market linked defined benefit complying pensions. As a result, the investors have lost much of interest in these self-managed supperannuation funds (SMSFs).
