Time to retire deeming accounts
Article Abstract:
Those relying on deeming accounts for income in Australia are less happy than those with mortgages, who are in general very happy about interest rate moves. The interest rates on deeming accounts are linked to rated the federal government of Australia deems pensioners are earning. In 2000 the government did not adjust deeming rates when rates went up half a per cent. Deeming accounts, often used as a place for retirees to park day-to-day funds, are perhaps no longer a good place for such funds and have high fees.
