Identity theft is the biggest source of consumer fraud in the US, and its citizens are cheated of $56.6 billion in cash, goods and services in 2005. The situation is slowing coming under control but vigilance needs to be exercised as frauds would continue to devise new ways to defraud thus tips are offered on how to stay ahead of them.
