'Downsizing' is a term that has become feared by many workers, and a term that has become synonymous with losing one's job. Many families live from paycheck to paycheck, and such a loss would cause difficulties. AARP will continue to campaign for pension protection and to communicate the need for savings.

About 14,000 dishonest telemarketers prey on victims in the US and Canada. Yearly, Americans are defrauded of more than $440 bil by these con men. The scams include illegal sweepstakes, false investments, and phony charities. The AARP is supporting passage of state laws against the crimes.
