This article This article examines factors leading to the slowdown in the Australian and global economy. Issues include the influence of the economy on the stock market and vice versa, the example of this relationship in the Depression of the 1930s, and the need for investors to pay attention to economic cycles when managing their portfolios; the bottom of line of various Australian industries for 2000 is provided.
