ESCO growth
Article Abstract:
Energy service companies (ESCOs) have been experiencing considerable growth since 1990, as firms continue to provide increased investments to energy efficiency projects. A study conducted by the Department of Energy revealed that total investments in energy-efficiency initiatives totaled around $1 billion in 1996, $601 million of which was used for institutional facilities and $300 million diverted to commercial facilities. Results further showed that demand for electricity significantly dropped by 571 megawatts as a result of ESCO projects.

The sage grouse and ESA reform
Article Abstract:
The plan of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (FWS) to list grouse as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) remains yet unconfirmed. The sage grouse working group of U.S. electric utilities suggests that the development of the environmental reforms and the conservative measures that provide economic and effective mitigation can be done through the cooperative work of utilities and government agencies.
