Flying in the future
Article Abstract:
The International Civil Aeronautics Organization established the Future Air Navigation System (FANS) committee in 1984 to develop measures to improve the means of handling the rapidly increasing air traffic around the world. The FANS allow aircraft to operate more closely by improving the navigational data available on each aircraft from sources such as Global Positioning System, VHF radio communication via satellite, the Microwave Landing System and the Automatic Dependant Surveillance system. All of these systems will allow more intensive use of the air lanes that exist.

Baby power
Article Abstract:
The governments of Malaysia and Singapore are encouraging population growth, despite the attempts of most Asian countries to control population. The Malaysian government is encouraging women to have five children to promote economic and industrial expansion. Singapore's government is responding to a labor shortage by providing educated women with incentives to have children, while discouraging less-educated women from having them.
