Long-Range Generation Planning Using Generalized Benders' Decomposition: Implementation and Experience
Article Abstract:
A planning model for long range electricity generation expansion is developed. A generalized benders' decomposition methodology is used. It incorporates a probabilistic method for computing production costs and reliability levels. The problem is divided into a master linear program that generates trail expansion plans, and a set of nonlinear subproblems. They compute production cost and system reliability for each trail plan. Results are compared with a dynamic programming model. Numeric results are presented in tables.

Interval Estimation after Sequential Testing Based on the Total Time on Test
Article Abstract:
It is common practice to test hypotheses when a quality control analyst decides whether to accept or reject a product batch. A sequential testing procedure requires less data to reach a decision. If items that fail a test are not replaced and that failure time has a distribution function that is stochastically non-decreasing, then a time truncated sequential procedure can be developed. This procedure allows quick rejection of the null hypothesis. Examples are given.
