Torremolinos: then and now
Article Abstract:
Torremolinos, a small resort town in Spain, has become over-developed, but parts of the original settlement still remind tourists of the town that was established in 1748. Tourism became a significant activity in Torremolinos in the 1950s. The growth of tourism led to low-quality urban sprawl and destroyed the rural environment. Torremolinos draws large crowds of tourists, thereby functioning as a safety valve by allowing other tourist areas to remain environmentally unspoiled.

Mapping the census
Article Abstract:
Census data is best represented in maps when Enumeration District boundaries are replaced by 200m square grid cells. Such a mapping will be far more accurate and can be useful in the decision-making of commercial and public sectors. A case study of Newcastle upon Tyne proves that Enumeration District maps are an improvement on the broad generalizations of the ward scale maps but they also miss the accuracy that is available in grid-cell scale maps.
