Reclaiming abandoned mines
Article Abstract:
Reclaimation of abandoned mines is the need of the day in order to stop acid mine drainage and soil erosion, considering there is about 730,000 acres of abandoned mine land in the Unites States. Efforts have been made by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Interior's Office of Surface Mining (OSM) to rope in other parties to invest in such projects for their carbon sequestration value.
