The Edison Award
Article Abstract:
The Edison Electric Institute bestowed an award to New England Electric System (NEES) for thriving in a deregulated marketplace. The award is granted yearly to a share-holder-owned electric utility that rendered an excellent contribution to the industry. NEES earned recognition for its restructuring policies in an unstable and politically-motivated marketplace. The electric utility has also fostered the principle and application of a wires or access charge to revive stranded investments and other system benefits.
