Utilities value corporate governance.

Article Abstract:

Gavin Anderson the chief executive officer of Governance Metrics International (GMI) expresses his views on the highest average ratings earned by utilities in different governance categories but except the areas of financial disclosure and internal controls. He further states that the mutual fund investors should ask their managers to disclose the governance of their profile and it should be made aware that risk is involved of investing in corporate governance.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has discretion over construction of power transmissions along sites designated as the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors (NIETCs) as guided by the National Electric Transmission Congestion Study. Drafts of two proposed NIETCs, covering the Mid-Atlantic area and Southwest area, are also mentioned.

The trended original cost process is a tool to determine the allowed annual return of investment in dollars. Details on how to use these tools are discussed.
