Do case studies mislead about the nature of reality?
Article Abstract:
It is important to be aware that the form and usage of case studies can give an inaccurate view of the nature of reality. Case studies may be drawn from and reflect reality, but they are often edited, a fact which is easily forgotten. Each case study inevitably reflects some of the views of its author, and case studies cannot therefore be seen as accurate accounts of reality. They clearly have a role in teaching and research, but it is now time to look more closely at their construction and use.
