Corruption and research
Article Abstract:
Drug research involves various ethical issues and can involve corruption. When international multicenter research trials are designed and where countries with very different attitudes toward what is and is not corruption are involved, the possibility of systemic corruption should be considered. Three approaches to the problem have been developed and evaluated. Clinical trials with AZT carried out in developing countries and AIDS vaccine trials are examples of situations in which medical ethics have been highlighted.

Third trimester abortion for fetal abnormality
Article Abstract:
Third-trimester abortions for fetal abnormality are now more often requested because medical technology is now capable of diagnosing server structural abnormality of the fetus. Serious ethical and legal questions arise relative to physicians and whether they should be allowed to fulfill such a request and if so, what safeguards they should have in place. The situation in the Netherlands, where a commission has been established and has reported on these issues, is discussed in particular.
