Some paradoxes of whistleblowing
Article Abstract:
Whistleblowing refers to the revelation of information about an organization which would not ordinarily be revealed. It can be considered a form of disloyalty but is morally permissible under certain circumstances. These circumstances are part of the standard and accepted theory on whistleblowing. However, analysis of real incidents of whistleblowing showed that there are inconsistencies, or paradoxes between the accepted theory on whistleblowing and what is actually known about whistleblowing. These paradoxes are not simple exceptions but frequent paradoxes which violate the accepted theory.

Technical decisions: time to rethink the engineer's reponsibilities?
Article Abstract:
Engineering ethics is still a vague concept in many corporations. Most managers do not include engineers in decision-making and engineers do not know the kind of information that may be ethically withheld from managers. Since engineering work is extremely compartmentalized, engineers tend to be less responsible for the actions that they make. Indeed, technical decisions would have to take into account ethical issues that most companies apparently fail to consider.
