Exporting instability

Article Abstract:

The constant fighting and violation of human rights throughout Burma have displaced thousands of civilians and have forced huge number of refugees to flee to neighboring countries. The international focus is on Burma and hence, it is debating on approaches, be it isolation or engagement, as it has to bear in mind the refugees and the links between cross border movements, regional security and future stability.

Lucky to be alive

Article Abstract:

Special Envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello, Arthur Helton and twenty others were killed in the bombing of the United Nations mission in Baghdad and is slated to be the most deadly attack against the organization. Gil Loescher who arrived in Baghdad to assess the human cost of war and occupation was the only survivor in the most devastated part of the building and feels incredibly lucky to still be alive.
