Commodity prices and monetary policy: what have we learned?
Article Abstract:
Monetary policymaking in the 1990s in the US has placed special emphasis on the role of the forward-looking market price indicators such as commodity prices. These indicators have proved to be vital for decision makers in the formulation of monetary policies which aim at price stability. Commodity prices, which are easily available and not subjected to revision or adjustment, are more important than GNP statistics, domestic output and other quantity variables.

The Federal Reserve's low interest rate policy of 1970-72: determinants and constraints
Article Abstract:
The Federal Reserve's low interest rate policy of 1970-1972 has had a hidden agenda. This reveals that class struggle is one of the factors that determine monetary policies of the US government. Congressional pressures, however, prevented the agency from its efforts to weaken the labor sector.
