Donald Davidson and 'America's other lost generation.'
Article Abstract:
The Agrarian 'lost generations' critic Donald Davidson used fundamentalism to establish a relationship with the religious people of the early 20th century America and express his criticism of modern society. The 'lost generations' critics rejected the idea of fundamentalism but accepted the moral values assumed to be present in modern America. His personal letters also express his anti-institution and anti-clericalism ideas. However, he formed his concept of fundamentalism without knowledge of religion and related it to that seen in the revivalist movement of the Southern highlands.
