Ending civil service protections in Florida government
Article Abstract:
Impact and implications of civil service reform in state agencies in the United States are examined, in the light of Florida's law on eliminating civil service protections. The extent of impact of removal of the job protection, based on political recommendations, on employees is also examined.

Civil service reform in Florida state government: employee attitude 1 year later
Article Abstract:
Florida implemented a civil service reform law known as Service First in 2001 that abolished job tenure for 16,300 career employees. The impact of the law on the employees transferred from tenured Career Service to unprotected Selected Exempt Service is discussed.
