Is there life in the crippled giant?
Article Abstract:
Nigeria's economic problems date back to its birth under the British, who arbitrarily divided it into northern and southern protectorates. In 1914, when the northern colony proved too costly, it was reunited with the more lucrative southern colony with no attention given to tribal differences in the regions. Since its independence in 1960, money from oil has sustained the economy, but corruption and mismanagement are constant threats to Nigeria's stability.

Molecules in high Rydberg states
Article Abstract:
High Rydberg states in molecules have made possible the development of new research tools for studying gas-phase molecules and ions. Among the tools are spectroscopic techniques such as mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) and zero kinetic energy (ZEKE) photoelectron spectroscopy and techniques suitable for looking at bimolecular reactions, photodissociation processes, and state-selected ion-molecule reactions.
