Japan hits rock bottom
Article Abstract:
Japan's Gross National Product and purchasing power parity appear comparable to America's, but the price of essential goods and services in Japan is significantly higher than in the US. This factor reduces the standard of living of the average Japanese to an unsatisfactory level for the second largest economic power in the world. This situation was produced by the rigid social and economic system the country originally needed to make up for its lack of natural resources.

Shout louder for change
Article Abstract:
Japan has been the producer of necessities. The country's investment in the US and Europe has been welcome because of the jobs it created and management techniques it introduced. The country's economic success has been remarkable, but its 1997 economic crisis and the ruling party's leadership problems have been major threats to the world economy's stability.
