Sustaining the unsustainable: Symbolic politics and the politics of simulation

Article Abstract:

The environmental politics has not tackled the critical global environmental issues effectively in terms of environmental economy and environmental policies and has reduced to a mere symbolic politics that is unable to stop the ecological degradation. The concept and practices of simulative politics are attracting late- modern societies than the symbolic as with the former they can effectively sustain the unsustainable.

Eco-politics beyond the paradigm of sustainability: A conceptual framework and research agenda

Article Abstract:

A research agenda for the politics of unsustainability of the post- ecologist era and a conceptual framework for its analysis are presented. The model of sustainability is seen to need a new concept of environmental sociology, and the role of eco-politics in development of eco-sociological policies is discussed.
