The mobilization of distrust

Article Abstract:

The 2006 presidential election in Mexico saw public protests similar to a peaceful revolution against the results declaring Felipe Calderon of the National Action Party as the winner. An analysis reveals that the bureaucratic, judicial and political imperfections, along with genuine human errors, that emerged during the electoral process made the democratic process vulnerable to the strategic mobilization of popular mistrust.
