Theories of secession

Article Abstract:

A study of the comparative strengths and weaknesses of two types of secession theories is presented. The Primary Right Theories are lacking based on the standard of minimal realism, inconsistent with morally liberal principles of international law and create contrary motives. The ideal theories would be the Remedial Right Only Theories because these set a moral target that can only be accomplished through entirely essential changes in international legal institutions and principle.

Social epistemology argument for liberal institutions satisfies the requirement of political liberalism. The author argues that key liberal institutions provide important safeguards against the moral risks of socially inculcated false beliefs.
