Tensional language: the priestly and the prophetic
Article Abstract:
A review of some of the great philosophies reveals that there are two basic interpretations of life and society each with their own linguistic symbols. These could be termed the priestly and the prophetic. Educationalists who appreciate that the rulers of society are the ones who control the dissemination of linguistic symbols should aim to educate within the balance between the priestly and the prophetic. Consistent leaning to one or the other extreme will lead to ideological thinking which will threaten freedom and democracy.

Thoughts on autodidacticism
Article Abstract:
Autodidacts do not take part in group discussions and they tend to be individualists who have learnt the hard way. They seek to read the best in literature and their original views help promote individual liberty. Their literary preferences show that it is misguided to seek to level culture and underestimate human imagination and intelligence. Both William Cobbett and Abraham Lincoln were autodidacts who benefited from their early solitary studying.
