A meta-analysis method for OD case studies

Article Abstract:

Although there are almost 600 documented cases of organizational development (OD), this knowledge has not been accumulated. To integrate and use this knowledge, a case study meta-analysis should be set up. The steps that need to be taken to integrate this knowledge include: developing research questions, setting study criteria, collection case studies, developing the coding scheme, rating the case studies, assessing reliability, resolving discrepancies in ratings, data analysis, and reporting the results. Setting up this case meta-analysis would not only enable descriptive statistics to be calculated, but the empirical data from OD case studies could be used to validate theoretical statements about OD and improve the quality of future case studies.

Pure Science Versus Science-Action Models of Data Feedback: A Field Experiment

Article Abstract:

The theory, practice, and results of two feedback models are presented. A pure science model and a science-action model are the two feedback approaches. The pure science approach utilizes the intervention team which provides data to the client organization. The client makes free, informed choices. The science-action model differs in that the intervention team is also the change agent. Providing data and working toward change produces organizational change and problem-solving. A field study assesses the impact of these methods in practice. Results are summarized in table form. The first intervention has produced no organizational change. The second intervention has produced major organizational changes. Implications of this research are detailed.

It's just a phase we're going through: a review and synthesis of OD phase analysis

Article Abstract:

The given phase model can make significant contributions to the examination of organization development case studies. Initially, it furnishes a total structure for reporting and planning interventions, which permits faster comprehension by others of the intervention and of its effects. Also, it will identify attributes and help prevent omissions in reporting to disclose a better representation of the total case.
