A preliminary investigation of family coping styles and psychological well-being among adolescent survivors of Hurricane Katrina

Article Abstract:

The relation between family coping styles and psychological functioning, comparing adolescents who lost their homes due to Hurricane Katrina and are living relocation camp to those who are not experienced with such events, is investigated. Results suggest further research on both potential benefits and costs of family coping styles as family coping plays an important role in children's resilience after a large-scale disaster.

Convergence among multiple methods of measuring positivity and negativity in the family environment: relation to depression in mothers and their children

Article Abstract:

A study to explore the distinct methods like parent self-report, and child self-report of assessing the family environment in relation to each other and to depression in mothers and children is conducted. Results provide evidence of convergence and the utilization of multiple methods in assessing positivity and negativity in the family environment of mothers and their young adolescent offspring.
