Ante- and perinatal factors and child characteristics predicting parenting experience among formerly infertile couples during the Childs first year: A controlled study

Article Abstract:

Parenting experiences among couples with successful assisted reproductive treatment (ART) and fertile spontaneously conceiving controls and the impact of ante- and perinatal factors and child characteristics on parenting experiences are studied. The results show that positive mothering experiences increased more during the first year of parenting and were generally higher among ART mothers than control mothers.

Stepchildren's perceptions of noncustodial mothers and noncustodial fathers: Differences in socioemotional involvement and associations with adolescent adjustment problems

Article Abstract:

Caucasian stepchildren in the Nonshared Environment and Adolescent Development project rated noncustodial (NC) parents' socioemotional involvement. Structural equation modeling, which was used to compare the association between perceived social support and adolescent adjustment for NC mothers versus NC fathers, revealed that the association was stronger for NC mothers.

Differential parenting as a within-family variable

Article Abstract:

An important factor in adolescent development has been determined as non-shared environmental influences. The study investigates the link of differential parental negativity or warmth to adolescent adjustment and finds that it contributes unique variance.
