Calling in wild silvery gibbons (Hylobates moloch) in Java (Indonesia): Behavior, phylogeny, and conservation

Article Abstract:

Data for the silvery gibbon (Hylobates moloch), an endangered primate that is endemic to the island of Java, Indonesia, is collected to study the singing behavior of the easternmost population of this species in the Dieng mountains. This helps to provide a repertoire description of silvery gibbon call and song bouts, to document the timing of their songs, and to quantify the amount of singing by the respective sexes and individual gibbons.

Call diversity of wild male orangutans: A phylogenetic approach

Article Abstract:

A study that represents a new approach to orangutan systematics that uses orangutan long calls is discussed. The shortest trees and multivariate analyses present evidence of a closer relationship between Sumatran and specific Bornean demes than between particular Bornean demes themselves, suggesting that conservation management should be based on orangutans from different populations rather than on just the two island-specific groups.

Cross-Species Amplification of human microsatellite markers using noninvasive samples from white-handed gibbons (Hylobates Iar)

Article Abstract:

A research is conducted to screen 47 human-derived markers to assess their utility in the white-handed gibbon. The results emphasize the importance of extensively screening potential markers in representatives of the population of interest.
