Changes in the structure of children's isometric force variability with practice

Article Abstract:

The effect of age and practice on the structure of children's force variability is examined to test the information processing hypothesis that a reduction of sensorimotor system noise accounts in large part for age-related reductions in perceptual-motor performance variability. The findings indicate that practice-driven changes in the structure of force output largely account for age-related reductions in the amount of force variability,

Inhibition of return in children and adolescents

Article Abstract:

The premise that on the efficiency with which attention is removed from the location of a peripheral cue, that depends on the time course of IOR (inhibition of return) is examined in a comparative study of young children and older adolescents. It was observed that IOR was delayed in the single cue procedure for both groups whilst in the case of both cueing procedures the IOR was delayed in the younger group.

Is perserveration caused by inhibition failure? Evidence from preschool children's inferences about word meanings

Article Abstract:

The interaction between flexible cognition in language processing and preschool children's tendency to perseverate is investigated. It was noted that flexibility across semantic inferences is not predicted by individual differences in a test of verbal inhibitor.
