Cognitive functioning in adults with Williams syndrome
Article Abstract:
A sample of 62 adults with Williams syndrome participated in a study which examined the cognitive functioning of adults with the disability. The participants were asked to take the WAIS-R UK test to assess general cognitive functioning and the British Picture Vocabulary Scale was also administered to measure receptive and expressive language skills. Results showed that skills in areas such as spelling, reading and social adjustment constantly remain at low levels as the individual becomes an adult. This leads to a lower Performance IQ, on average, compared to Verbal IQ.

The orphans of Eritrea: A five-year follow-up study
Article Abstract:
A five year follow-up study on the orphans of Solomuna Orphanage in Eritrea has revealed that the behavioural symptoms identified in the children at the ages of 4-7, which included enuresis, eating disorders, sleeping problems, and aggressive interaction; had given way to depression and anxiety at the ages of 9-12. The children are all performing well academically and behaviourally at public school.
