Comparing lots before and after: promotion rejectees' invidious reactions to promotees

Article Abstract:

A study examines self-reported envy as a major influence on the psychological and behavioral reactions of candidates who were rejected for promotion. Envy is an apparently significant part of the process through which a person maintains his self-image in the face of a perceived threat.
