Computer-assisted intervention improves patient-centered diabetes care by increasing autonomy support

Article Abstract:

The impacts of computer-assisted intervention on perceived competence and perceived autonomy support are examined. Perceived autonomy support was found to increase due to computer-assisted intervention, which also altered the patient's perceived confidence. The implications of the findings on chronic care model and on the self-determination model for change in health behavior are analyzed.
