Confirmatory factor analysis of combined Wechsler adult intelligence scale - revised Wechsler memory scale - revised scores in a healthy community sample

Article Abstract:

A healthy community sample of 193 men and 206 women has been used to examine the joint factor stucture of the Combined Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. Alternative ability models have been contrasted with different Wechsler scales, with a specific focus on memory function hypotheses. The most appropriate solution was found in a five-factor model which included Visual Memory, Verbal Memory, Attention-Concentration, Perceptual Organization and Verbal Comprehension.

Education-stratified base-rate information on discrepancy scores within and between the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition and the Wechsler Memory Scale-Third Edition

Article Abstract:

Information is provided on education-stratified, directional prevalence rates of discrepancy scores between the major index scores for the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition (WAIS-III), the Wechsler Memory Scale-Third Edition (WMS-III), and between the WAIS-III and WMS-III. The relative risk of empirically defined 'rare' cognitive deficits in two of the clinical samples presented in the WAIS-III and WMS-III Technical Manual is reviewed.
