Male couples' dyadic adjustment and the use of safer sex within and outside of primary relationships

Article Abstract:

Relationship adjustment among male couples indicates a negative correlation with gay men's exposure to HIV during their sexual encounters. The adjusted couples practise safer sex. Partners practising safer sex have lower relationship satisfaction when their primary partners indulge in unsafe sex or discourage safety measures. Unsatisfying relationships lower the couple's tendency to limit to a single partner and exposes the relationship to high risk behavior.
