Construct refinement and confirmation for the Addiction Severity Index

Article Abstract:

Exploratory item analyses, confirmatory oblique item clustering, and second order factor analysis confirm the concurrent and predictive validity of the hypothesized scales for the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). A study conducted on 990 methadone maintenance substance abuse patients shows that the transformed ASI scales retain a substantial amount of unique and reliable variance. The scales are comparatively independent and have little common variance. ASI has potential utility in clinical work and research.

Addiction severity index Recent and Lifetime summary indexes based on nonparametric item response theory methods

Article Abstract:

Two nonparametric item response theory (NIRT) methods were used to analyze the Baseline Addiction Severity Index (ASI-5) data of a sample of substance abuse patients, from both Recent and Lifetime indexes of ASI problems function. The study found that NIRT was successful in deriving summary indexes of severity that were relatively independent between the different ASI-5 problem areas and demonstrated concurrent validity.

Comparison of embedded and isolated administrations of the California psychological inventory's socialization subscale

Article Abstract:

The testing of alternate administration methods for Socialization (So) subscale of the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) is conducted. It is realized that isolated administration produces higher internal consistency and better concurrent validity and demonstrates construct validity as a measure of anti-sociality.
