Neuropsychological functioning among the nonpsychotic relatives of schizophrenic patients: a diagnostic efficiency analysis

Article Abstract:

Relatives of schizophrenic patients were subjected to clinical and neuropsychological tests to determine whether they suffer from impairments associated with schizophrenia. Based on comparisons with a control group, nonpsychotic relatives of patients were found to exhibit deficits in abstraction, verbal memory, verbal ability, auditory attention and mental control. Three of these meet the criteria for potential risk indicators for the schizophrenia genotype.

Correlates of psychosis proneness in relatives of schizophrenic patients

Article Abstract:

Relatives of schizophrenics were subjected to a battery of tests to determine the relationship between schizotypy and personality disorders. Relatives were chosen because of their genetic vulnerability to schizophrenia and to unveil potential familial determinants of the disorder. Results revealed that the variance observed in the Magical Ideation Scale and Perceptual Aberration Scale is attributable to schizotypal and borderline personality disorder scales.
