Differential heritability of eating attitudes and behaviors in prepubertal versus pubertal twins

Article Abstract:

This article examines the genetic influence on eating attitudes and behaviors. The authors, analyzing results from a study that included 11 prepubertal twins, 11 year old pubertal twins, and 17 year old pubertal twins, conclude heritability of eating pathology may become activated during puberty.

Brain dopamine is associated with eating behaviors in humans

Article Abstract:

The physiological aspects of eating behavior is examined. The authors, analyzing the results of a study in which food stimulation and dopamine levels were measured, argue that dopamine is involved in regulating eating behavior.

Genetic and environmental contributions to obesity and binge eating

The authors examine the genetic and environmental factors of obesity and binge eating, concluding both are genetic conditions with only a modest overlap in the genetic and environmental risk factors of each condition.
