Does female dominance facilitate feeding priority in black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata) in southeastern Madagascar?

Article Abstract:

The female dominance patterns and potential measures of feeding priority in two groups pf black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata) that were observed over a 15-month in southeastern Madagascar is described. The way in which these patterns vary over time are influenced by the number of females in groups, group stability, food quality, and reproductive condition would be examined in future analyses.

Environmental enrichment to address behavioral differences between wild and captive black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata)

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to assess the behavioral differences between wild and captive individuals of a species using the same behavioral measures. The behaviors of wild Varecia variegata living in a Malagasy rain forest with those of caged groups living in zoos in the United Kingdom in order to design environmental enrichment to encourage more natural behaviors is compared.
